Traction 2/6

I really enjoyed Jonathan’s presentation! It was really fun getting to learn about his business. I appreciated hearing about his story, it made me realize that the path to success and entrepreneurship isn’t always straightforward. I genuinely enjoyed the presentation, I would love more presentations like that!!

I don’t really understand the second question. It’s an incomplete sentence.

I think I’m definitely still learning with the VPC, especially the differences and intricacy between when you require one versus more than one. During VP1, we made a mistake and combined what should have been two separate ones. I think I’m also still struggling with pain relievers and gain creators. I’m getting there and I think I understand it in theory, I just am still struggling in practice. It’s been pretty helpful as a tool to sort out the motivators and how we can help our customer during VP2 though. I think we’re on the right track with our current one. I’m learning!

Success for this quarter means gaining the skills to be successful in the coming quarters. I see this quarter as building the skills needed to succeed going forward. As a team, I’m hoping to build relationships and get to know some of my fellow E1s so that we can learn together going forward! 🙂

During the field trip, I went with some shops in downtown, we went to Buffalo Exchange and Third Planet. We did some informal interviews asking about what students would be interested in for events. The E2s wanted some info on their event, it was certainly more attainable to approach someone to ask about event preferences than their experience with food insecurity or houselessness. The upper E levels I was with took the lead on it. It was really fun to watch!

I definitely learned that interviews don’t have to be stuffy or anxiety-producing. They can be a casual conversation. It’s about getting to know a person’s perspective.

Venture projects one was definitely a ride! I was incredibly lost towards the beginning (and still slightly am), but my team was really great and helped guide me through the process. In the future I want to be more confident in my projects, I was a little overwhelmed with everything this first round and held back some of my opinions because of that. Overall though, I think I learned a lot and I’m excited for VP 2 and the chance to work on another project! There are a lot of different things to keep track of… so keeping everything straight is the thing that I’m most worried about!

On the pitch specifically, I felt that I did a really good job on the first one. I was prepared for that one. I was, however, not prepared for the second pitch in front of the whole class. I got super nervous and my stutter came out and I don’t feel nearly as confident about that one. Now that I know there’s a potential to be asked to do a second pitch I can prepare for that, and hopefully, I won’t feel so blindsided.

The VP 1 rebrand was pretty fun! I enjoyed putting together vision boards and the opportunity to be creative that this project offered. I think that was my favorite part. I’m usually really good at brainstorming and helping generate ideas, going forward I really want to harness those skills more. I felt overwhelmed during VP 1, so hopefully, in the next project, I’ll be able to really bring my strengths to the table! 🙂

I’ve been feeling a little bit lost on this project… with this being my first quarter in entrepreneurship, there’s a lot to learn! My team has been great at showing me the ropes and walking me through the steps. I definitely appreciate their help! Otherwise, I would have been incredibly lost. Within the last few days, I’ve been starting to get my feet and the process is becoming clearer.

I’m definitely learning. My team and I have made surveys and been conducting interviews. The surveys have actually been really fun to make! The interviews however have been a little nerve-racking. I’ve been putting mine off because the idea of it triggers my social anxiety. But I shall get through it!!

We’ve been working on rebranding Supercuts. We’ve decided to lean into a more masculine and sustainable design to appeal to a younger male audience. Creating the vision board for this project was a ton of fun! For the color palette, we decided to go with earth tones with pops of mustard yellow for our first prototype. We also came up with some new ideas that will hopefully help with the quality issues that were reported to us in our first round of surveys,

In my vision board, I chose to add the rainbow because I want to remain positive despite the negativity that may be around me. Next, I added the plants as a representation of growth. I have a bit of a green thumb and enjoy watching my plants grow and hope that I’m doing the same. In the middle is my roommate and I’s holiday tree. Jiminothy is certainly a unique guy! I can only hope to be as bold and unabashedly myself as them, but I shall try nonetheless! And the last pictures are of my family and friends because I can’t wait to continue making beautiful memories with them.

I define an entrepreneur as a go-getter and a leader. Someone with the skills, means, and industry to create a venture. I see my current role within entrepreneurship as one of learning. I am currently working on gaining knowledge and competency in the subject so that I have the ability to succeed in the future.
