My name is Mayumi Haskins, and I am an undergraduate student studying psychology at Western Washington University. I currently assist Michi Matsukura in her visual cognition lab, conducting research experiments around attention and memory. I’m interested in experimental psychology and hope to use this knowledge to design and conduct psychological research professionally one day. I have a particular interest in clinical and social research, both of which are aided by a solid foundational understanding of cognitive processes. It is my dream to do research in one of those fields. I am also the first IRB student member at Western.

Hi! I am Camille Mauguiere, I am finishing a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a Minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I am proud to be part of the research assistant team of Dr. Matsukura’s laboratory research, whose research focuses on cognition, specifically visual attention, scene perception, and eye movements. I have gained invaluable skills and experience working as part of this team, as well as expanding my knowledge to different areas of psychology, which enthusiastically pushes me towards my next goals. Some important skills I’ve developed include organization, adaptability, reading and interpreting research, working independently, taking initiative, and working with participants. I look forward to using and expanding those competencies in graduate school, as I plan on getting a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Ultimately, I strive to gain a diverse range of experiences and lessons from working both in research, with participants, and as part of a team to become a skillful and well-rounded practitioner

My name is Spencer Thomas and I am an undergraduate student at WWU majoring in psychology. I am a research assistant in Michi Matsukura’s lab, which pursues various aspects of visual cognition, particularly focusing on facets of attention and memory. My own interest and overall aspiration for the future outside of the lab and WWU is to pursue further education in the neurological field of psychology studies. Specifically, clinical neuropsychology. This is because of my own dreams of becoming a clinical practitioner within such a line of work.
