Our surveys and interviews produced very similar results. We found from our survey that over 80% people agree that social media has made communication easier. Within our interviews we also found a similar trend. When asked “How do you contact people the most?” majority of people responded with a social media platform (snap chat in particular) or through text. And when asked why, most people said it was because the convenience of it. What was interesting to find is that while almost 90% of people stated that they mostly used social media or text to communicate, almost 60% of people stated that they prefer to communicate in person or over the phone. Similarly, in our interviews when asked their preferred method of communication we got answers such as, “Texting is convenient and direct but in person is a better way to communicate.” In our survey, when given the statement “Talking in person makes for better communication.”, over 70% of people selected that they strongly agree. Both our surveys and interviews gave us consistent results that helped make our findings much more reliable.
