What Inspired Us

Background

Whether its teens on snap chat or parents on Facebook, it’s hard to find someone not a part of some social media platform. People go to social media for a multitude of reasons. This can be anything from watching a funny video, posting photos from a recent vacation or catching up with friends and family. One big aspect we see throughout every social media platform is the use for communication. On every platform it is almost guaranteed that there is a place for messaging and communication whether it be one-on-one or with a whole community. With the swift unlocking of your smart phone and opening of an app you could communicate with people at anytime, anywhere. This brings us to the question is social media making communication easier or ruining our communication skills? We have the option to contact whomever we want at an instant but what is this doing to our face to face interactions? We set out to answer these questions and see if the heavy use of social media today is proving to utilize social media in a positive, more convenient way or making our communication skills worse.
