“How does the genre of music affect the human emotion and recollection of memory?”. Researchers have attempted to answer this question for years, including us in this project. The influence that music has on the human brain is an intriguing topic, and we wanted to see how the variety of music present in today’s society was perceived by a diverse pool of participants. The lyrics along with the overall mood of the song play a large role in determining not only what a person hears while listening, but the imagery they picture as well. In this study, we dive deeper into the inter workings of the human mind by testing its creativity when it comes to translating music to emotion. Not only do we study the affect music has on just the emotion one feels, we look into how the genre of music affects what color people correlate the music with. This was a very interesting trend in our data and we came across a plethora of intriguing patterns in our data. Not many people realized just how much thinking they do while they listen to music in its entirety, but this study helped them realize that.
