Our first extended trip out from Adak in late June was to the country along the west side of Finger and Thumb bays. The team included Mike Williams, Matt Richards-Perhatch (arrived July 3rd), Tom Barlow, and Cullen Williams. For the first day, the weather was lovely, broken skies with evening sun sneaking through. But things changed during that first night and by morning it was raining and the wind was gusting. We still got out and headed out into the rolling slopes and ponds in the area. Late in the day, we moved up on to the ridges to the west only to be buffered by very strong gusts. Cullen at one point said he could lean well into the wind near the top of the ridge and be held in place.
