Founded in 1911, Henry Vilas Zoo is a 28 acre, admission free zoo in located in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The zoo is home to over 100 species and sees around 700,000 visitors a years. The Zoo is passionate about assisting conservation efforts on both global and local levels and we are committed to working towards a future where plant, animal and human communities thrive together.

Jess’ path has led from her first animal training experiences as a Marine Mammal Intern with the US Navy, to tracking whooping cranes across the US for the International Crane Foundation, as well as roles in animal care, education and conservation at the San Diego Safari Park and Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. As the Conservation Education Curator for Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, Wisconsin, Jess gets to focus on the zoo’s mission of taking action on behalf of wildlife and wild places, and inspiring others to do the same.
