ABOUT

I don’t make my bed. I don’t set my alarm. I don’t brush my hair.

I live entirely and willfully at the hands of chaos. A messy bed reflects the liveliness and energy of he who uses it. Oversleeping gives the sprint to class an immeasurable excitement. Every wisp of hair sweeping across my face carries the animation of the wind behind it. Chaos breeds life.

Order, on the other hand, is constipated and robotic. I feel dehumanized every time I log a calendar event or schedule an appointment. The limits of conventional language and numbers constrict potential and spirit. Routines devolve into monotony and cruise control ignorance. Order breeds habit.

Traditional writing reeks of order. For this reason, typing each of these sentences is a strain. The subject of this webtext is a reflection of my inner self through a much more personally suitable medium. Music. In particular, jazz, as it taps the deepest into the wells of possibility and chaos. I have always felt that music, in essence, encapsulates your message in an emotional seed. This implants and evokes your message from within the listener themselves, a much more effective and impactful communicative method than explicitly declaring it through speech/writing.

The process of condensing my ideas into scribbles on paper has always felt incomplete and misrepresentative.

Jazz has changed the way I think. It has changed the way I talk. It only seems logical to allow it to change the way I write, and that is what I aspire to do through this webtext.
