Now that spring is in full bloom, nature is providing a plethora of new photo subjects. One of the most popular being flowers. Flowers are just about everywhere this time of year so grab a camera and go on a walk and you’ll find dozens of subjects to photograph. Here are some tips to help capture flowers in the best way you can.

1. Finding the right lighting is really important for bringing out those spring colors. Warm, bright lighting tends to help the most when it comes to flowers.

These are two pictures of the same sunflower. With the Image on the right, I made sure to wait until I had bright and natural lighting that would really bring out the warmth in the yellows of the flower. The bright lighting also highlighted some of the finer details of the sunflower and brought out its center.

 2. Angles! Getting the right angle is everything. I’ve found that getting directly above a flower tends to get some of the best results, though be careful not to get in the way of your light source.

These are also two photos of the same flower. With the one on the right, I made sure to put some thought into the angle of the photo. I centered out one blossom rather than trying to capture all of the blossoms on the flower. This allowed me to be able to focus the camera better and bring out more of the details in the flower.

3. Make sure to take lots of pictures so you can have plenty to choose from in case there’s something that doesn’t seem quite right with a photo.

4. Make sure to have fun with this and watch out for bees!
