Fine Arts Second Floor Exhibition Cases

This spring classes ART373 and ART370 explored making their own homemade pinhole cameras, sometimes also called “garbage cams”, to capture some truly unique photos! Pinhole involves the absolute fundamentals of image making – using everyday objects to capture, transform, interpret and distort scenes around us. Each student gathered materials and constructed cameras out of oatmeal tins, film canisters, and even a traffic cone. They produced images focusing on their own chosen theme using light sensitive paper to create unique compositions with their handmade cameras. Come check out the fruits of their labor on the Fine Arts Building Second Floor!

The show features the creative works of ART373’s Will Story, Kelsi Nosal, Kenzie Ellis, Alison Conner, Sakura Kellner, Meghan Maloof, Kady Darlington, Talia Podradchik, Alexei Chachkov, Natasha Karkoski and Lucianna Edenlord. As well as ART370’s Max Marsh, Eli Voorhies, Logan Field, Kris Pierson, Kya Kleckley, Corbin Firkins, Judy Kushner, Amy Johnson, Kyle Pettyjohn, Cecilia Hudson, Thomas O’Brien, Talia Podradchik and Carmen Krueger.

Special thanks to Bailey Russel, Julia Bradshaw, Kady Darlington, Avery Robertson, Nathan Cranston, and Garth Amundson!

The poster for the exhibition reads "pinhole, WWU B&W Photography Exhibition, Garbage Cams". It lists all the students involved in the show, the location, the special thanks and the synapsis featured at the start of this post. The posters main image is of a lightbulb all white -- created in a darkroom by laying a lightbulb over exposed photo paper.
