In this class meeting, we will prepare for conducting user tests for the Volunteer Center web site. This process requires several steps:

• Identify the functions or features of the web site, i.e., what does the web site allow you to do. If there are a very large number of functions, we may need to pick a subset of functions to focus on.
• Generate tasks that utilize these functions. These tasks should be…
  • Realistic, i.e., a real person might want to complete the task
  • Verifiable, i.e., it should be possible to determine whether the task was successfully completed or not
• From among the various tasks that we generate, select a set of tasks such that…
  • They cover as many of the functions as possible
  • They (roughly) progress from easier to more difficult
  • Completing earlier tasks doesn’t train people how to do the later tasks
