Noémi Ban, Holocaust Survivor

The institute is pleased to host Holocaust survivor and educator Noémi Ban on campus on April 24, 2017 at 6:00PM and on April 29, 2017 at 2:00PM in a special presentation with Prof. Emeritus Ray Wolpow and the director of the RWI, Prof. Sandra Alfers. Noémi Ban is an award winning teacher and Holocaust educator. She has received numerous awards, among them the Teacher of the Year Award from the State of Missouri and the Washington Education Association Human and Civil Rights Award in the category of International Peace and Understanding. She is also a recipient of the 2010 Daughters of the American Revolution Americanism Award, and in 2013, she received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Western Washington University.

Noémi Ban is the author of the book Sharing is Healing, and her experiences are documented in the 2007 film entitled My Name is Noémi.
