A Program of the Salish Sea Institute
The Salish Sea Institute started a Program of Hope for the Salish Sea in February 2019 in the midst of the Huxley Speaker Series.
We believe there is significant undercurrent of despair that may prevent students and other community members from being part of the solution. Further, we recognize that learning about solutions and positive actions can motivate people to take additional positive actions.
We want to share positive news, accomplishments, science and opportunities for solutions related to environmental recovery as well as teach about the Salish sea, on and off campus.
We don’t intend to close our eyes to problems and issues that threaten the health of the ecosystem. In fact we come from a place of deep concern regarding the health of the Salish Sea.
The Program of Hope for the Salish Sea will focus on telling stories of solutions, actions, and opportunities for involvement through social media and other outlets.
The Institute has accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube (Where you can find some more hopeful videos) as well as an electronic quarterly newsletter. We’re currently using the following hashtags: #HealthySalishSea #OceanOptimism #SalishSeaFuture.
A healthy Salish Sea takes actions and solutions. We are all part of the solution.
