The Executive and Program Committees of the 2018 Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference understand the importance of student attendance and involvement at their biennial conference. To encourage student attendance, SSEC 2018 will allow students to apply for a $125 registration credit to use towards payment for his/her/their conference registration.*
Requirements and Application Materials
We ask that students first inquire at their department and school for partial or full scholarship to the conference. Please do your part by seeing if your institution will assist you in some way.
We encourage you to apply early as funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
To apply, please submit:
- A completed Student Support and Volunteer Application form
- Proof of enrollment at an accredited community college, university, or high school (such as a photocopy of a current student ID card)
- A brief letter of support from the applicant’s academic advisor, faculty member, or teacher that outlines how attending the conference fits into the student’s program of study and that addresses whether the student has any alternative financial support options from their own program or school
In addition to applying for the $125 grant, students can chose to apply to be a volunteer for 4 hours at the conference. Volunteering is a great way to be an active participant at the conference. By volunteering 4 hours, you will receive a $100 credit towards your registration. Add the $100 to the $125 you receive as a student and you have the cost of registration paid!
