What do I want to stand for in life? #MDP

The values exercise 🙂

One of the ABSOLUTE BEST decision’s I have ever made was to seek out WWU’s Counseling Center and its resources available to ALL students. I’ll have to share my story regarding how hard it was to leave college my first turn around due to depression. In short, I promised myself that when I was to return to school I was going to use every resource available to ensure a healthy and amazing college experience. Fast forward almost 7 years. I’m a returning student. Happy, healthy and 10 times more self confident, armed with mental health tools. And I stayed true to the promise.

I am in counseling through the WWU Counseling Center and have an incredible therapist. I promise there is a connection to this prompt.

A couple weeks ago my therapist and I worked on a journaling exercise focused on values. Once I completed the exercise it made sense to me why I could be feeling off due to making choices that strayed from my innate values.

After watching the toolkit video following one’s #truthnorth I finally started to understand how values fit into Major Definite Purpose. And how the more we progressively step towards our values the closer we become to that #truenorth. The video I’ve included below was also attached to that same exercise my counselor and I worked through.

Hope you enjoy this little video as much as I did and it further brings you closer to your own beautiful, unique and purposeful driven #truenorth.

How does IdeaGrit and Major Definitive Purpose resonate with you right now?

After watching the toolkit video on the IdeaGrit I was highly inspired to work through one. It was super helpful to create this diagram on my own. Being an E3 I just assumed that I knew the concept of the #ideagrit but it wasn’t until I took the time to re-watch the video and take notes as I did that I can say I understand it. I at least have a much better grasp on how the 5 points relate and connect to ultimately create a #cultureofbelonging.

Attached the video here for easy access.

First of all I have always loved this programs base in what we call our #TRUENORTH or “You guiding star for your life’s journey.” As I mentioned in previous posts lists/diagrams really help me flush out ideas/concepts. Following along with Art’s demonstrations and explanations has been a huge game changer for my success within this program and entrepreneurship in general. Below, I went ahead and created my own Active Exploration map. I also thought it was so cool that my values really correlated to both my life’s work and play.

How might you apply this week’s learnings to your venture?

I thought this past weeks learnings, the BMC workshop and JTBD workshop with our quads, was INCREDIBLE. I found both workshops extremely helpful. Using the BMC templates and group setting for the JTBD workshop cleared up many questions I had and I feel so much stronger applying these concepts/canvases to our venture.

  3. I completely agree with Kaelyn, your traction journal this is phenomenal! It inspired me to want to sit down and work on my own IdeaGrit and MDP maps. The workshops were super helpful to me as well. I love that Frido Kahlo quote as well!
