Fear: A nudge in the right direction?

Fear?!

I wanted to start by sharing the above YouTube video with Marie Forleo because I think it really ties into this week’s learnings and what it means to face your fears. How fear, even unrecognized, can be creating barriers to that BIG MAGIC as Elizabeth Gilbert would say, for innovation of any of your ventures. Here are some journaling prompts that resulted:

In regards to yourself as a change maker, the E&I program and specifically VP2:

  1. What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
  2. What would you create or attempt or change about your venture project and a student of E&I if fear wasn’t an issue?

If I wasn’t afraid I would…. start my E-Book and pitch it to gyms/centers all around the nation. I would contact the great connections I have in the field of sports/mentorship and ask them if they would have a conversation about what it means to live in their world. I would write everyday. I would take more risks . I would hire a powerlifting coach. I would seek out more resources in regards to my health. I would post videos of me talking about wellness, mental health, writing and life as a 30 year old feminist.

I would create an E-Book for the venture I’ve been working on for the past 6 years. I would set up weekly meetings with E&I mentors/coaches/leaders. I would have voiced more of my concerns/comments on event proposals. I would lead team connection workshops/activities.

This weeks fear challenge: Choose one fear that is stopping you from living the life you dream of. Face the fear, and investigate it. #exploreyourfears

How am I currently planning to serve our customer with our venture? Is there a fit? If not, dive deep.

Second Iteration BIC VP2 #eventplanning

*We plan on creating an event to help raise money for E&I, and provide community building for students in Bellingham, around local artists.”

This is our teams most current offering but even as we move into this week we plan on evolving our offering even more. Especially in regards to the feedback we received after Ugly But Tasty.

How might I apply this weeks learnings to our venture?

Feedback! Feedback! Feedback!

This past week was all about feedback and how we might be able to pivot and stay open to the evolution the more research and feedback we receive. Watching the toolkit video on feedback was super helpful to solidfy what I heard in regards to our VPC. I have linked it below along with a helpful infographic found also in the learning toolkit video 🙂

Oh!

This is an awesome episode on Marie TV that I watched this past week. It’s awesome. Listen to Anthony’s Trucks story and how that led him into coaching/entrepreneurship.

“When the odds are stacked against you, how do you succeed anyway? According to Anthony Trucks — former NFL athlete, American Ninja Warrior, author of “Identity Shift,” and host of the Aww Shift podcast — you can’t overcome your circumstances until you change your identity. Growing up in foster care, Anthony lived with six different families by the time he was six years old. Statistically, he was more likely to end up homeless or in prison than in the NFL — and certainly no one expected him to be a published author inspiring thousands on stages around the world. So how did he beat the odds? And, more importantly, how can you?”

  2. Hi Kristina!

Yet again I’m amazed by your traction journal! I hope I can get to the point of making my traction journals as beautiful and well thought out as yours! I love all the motivational videos, poems and other post you add in. Also I would love to see you achieve your goals and conquer your fears. That E-book sounds fascinating. Lastly good job reflecting on your VP 2. I can’t wait to see your team’s event comes out. It’s definitely something I would attend!

  3. I love the bonus things you add into your traction journals! The video on fear was great and I really liked her quote “The only deadly fear is the one that stops you from living your life.” I know I’ve definitely allowed certain fears and insecurities stop me from doing things in my life that I’ve been wanting to do. I do think it’s important though to give ourselves credit for the things we DIDN’T let the fear stop us from too. I think if we keep that in mind, it’s easier to bring up those instances when we are facing fear once again. The poem from Cleo Wade is beautiful, thank you for sharing!
