GRATEFUL: E1 WRAP UP

“For me, becoming isn’t about arriving somewhere or achieving a certain aim. I see it instead as forward motion, a means of evolving, a way to reach continuously toward a better self. The journey doesn’t end.”

-Michelle Obama’s, Becoming

This quarter went better than I could have imagined. And that’s saying a lot because I truly set high expectations for this course. When I first read an email in my inbox that talked about Entrepreneurship & Innovation I was like, “Is this course too good to be true?! I feel that this course description is describing me and the concepts really support who I want to show up in the world as.” What really stuck out to me what becoming a change maker. Being a coach I’ve always had the mindset that success was important and that the details matter but what matters most is the growth along the journey. How can you analyze your growth to propel your traction? Keeping self-awareness and intention behind each choice is the key, the secret ingredient to creating that life that feels most right to an individual.

Going into this course I set three intentions:

  1. I intend to take everything that I learn in this class and apply it my real time ventures in the present. #coachinggymnastics #mentorship #personalbranddevelopement
  2. I intend to show up for myself and others by seeing beauty in the journey. #positiveselftalk #compassionateleadersip
  3. I intend to place my focus on connection. #teamtractionjournal #meaningfulconversation #listentolisten #makefriends

You know what was the coolest part about this quarter was?! It was that each of those 3 intentions, I accomplished and it seemed whether or not my peers had similar intentions we all seemed to be on the same path. See how important it is to surround yourself with changemakers?!

A list of what I loved:

  1. Jumping right into VP1 with a great group prepped me for the rest of the quarter
  2. Class breakout groups
  3. Meg’s enthusiasm
  4. Cascading mentorship
  5. The GUEST SPEAKERS (by far the highlight of my week’s)
  6. Learning to use WordPress from the jump
  7. Reading others traction journal posts
  8. The amount of knowledge I gained in a short amount of time
  9. VP2 SQUAD; I am going to miss all of them. Can we keep our same groups forever?! HAHA
  10. Change Leadership project (I LOVED THIS)

What do I wish I would have done differently?

Hmmm well, I like to view this minor as a growth journey. So I don’t think there is anything I would have done differently because I did the best I could with what I knew at the time.

The first half of this class was really difficult because everything was brand new. Just like anything knew I stumbled, felt off balance and felt a little lost at times. Being an ex competitive athlete I learned this really early on. For example learning a back handspring took so many prep steps before actually completing fluid back handsprings. This mindset was very helpful. And like gymnastics I knew the practice and the coaches mentorship would get me to that smooth fluid movement the further I got into the class dynamics.

I am so proud of myself, my peers and our leadership team. As Glennon Doyle would say, “We can do hard things,” and we did.

Looking forward to next quarter,

Coach K

  1. This is so inspiring. I love hearing your thoughts and how everything cycles back to your purpose. Understanding what you wanted out of the course and what you got was so cool. I am so grateful I got to be apart of your first VP1. It was an incredible project and we did great work that week. (Get ready to jump head first again!)

And I loved your thought process for how hard it can be to enter the program. It IS difficult and challenging. But it’s just getting all the muscles strengthened so that you can go on and do even more incredible things. One of my favorite sayings from my E1 quarter was “radicle responsibility”. This means that you have to hold responsibility for your own work and project. There will be no one to watch over and hold your hand. I LOVE this aspect of class. I really hope that your cohort understands this by the end of the quarter too!

I also believe in connection and support networks. It has been a blessing to be a part of yours this quarter, and I hope I can continue to help you into the future. Overall, I want to say thank you for being a part of my group and connecting with me. It has been a fantastic quarter and it only gets better!

    See ya next quarter!

  2. I thought the same thing when I saw the course description. I never knew a class like this existed. Seeing beauty in the journal is such a good way of going about your process. It is not about the destination. It’s about the journey.
