- SMOCS undergraduate students have presented their SMOCS lab projects more than 14 times at regional and national scientific conferences with more than 27 SMOCS student authors on those presentations.
- Five of these presentations resulted in Best Speaker or Best Presentation awards.
- Seven students continued their SMOCS lab project as a senior thesis.
- One student received the College of the Environment, Department of Environmental Science Outstanding Environmental Applications Experience Award for his senior thesis.
- The lab projects resulted in two peer reviewed scientific publications.
- Many SMOCS students have been placed in summer internships with regional environmental consulting companies. SMOCS alumni work in regional and national environmental consulting companies and with government agencies, including the Washington State Department of Ecology. Many more continued into graduate school and focused on research related to environmental toxicology and chemistry.
