Why research ICT’s?

The rise of technology throughout the past few decades has led to massive changes in the way people learn, work, and communicate. This current generation of college students has experienced firsthand, the shift from older technologies in classrooms (VCR’s, clunky computers, etc.) to the modern day devices and technologies that we now use every day. Due the rapid advancement of these technologies, schools have become increasingly dependent on the use of them which had led to the question: does the use of these new technologies benefit the learning and communication abilities of the student? Or are they detrimental to the student’s academic development? This project conducted by my partner and I explored and observed the opinions and tendencies of students at Western Washington University, to learn the effects that information and communication technologies (ICT’s) have had on their communication abilities in the academic world, as well as in life.
