The Impact

After extensive research through interviews, observation, and surveying, we were able to draw a conclusion regarding the impact of information and communication technologies in the classroom. The direct impact of ICT’s in the classroom varies from student to student, and typically depends on the present situation, such as who the student is communicating with, and how the technology is being utilized.  The students at WWU believe the use of ICT in the classroom is helpful toward their learning, but does not help further their communication skills and abilities. This was seen through interviewing our peers, surveying our classmates, and observing a shared learning space in Wilson Library.

This conclusion we drew can potentially be seen as confounding because we only researched and interviewed students at WWU, and data from other schools/around the world could vary. We addressed this problem by linking an analysis of an article from the International Journal of ICT and Human Development, which is linked at the bottom of the page. This article goes in depth about how ICT impacts students and people all over the world, not just at WWU.
