Flashback Monday!

Hi Friends! To celebrate the last week of the exhibition, here’s a post from a few weeks ago, when we started this show. Thanks for listening. New stuff coming tomorrow!

April 7th, 2023

76Cascades is a little something new made at workshop I lead back in March at Jack Straw Cultural Center in Seattle. I had the great pleasure of working with some talented folks ranging in age and ability. We sonified some data taken from tree rings across the Cascade Range. Our data set, or our song started around year 1776 and the numbers came up with a pretty spooky cool chord progression. The rest is just me jamming with folks, 5, 6, 14 and 16 years old! This is certainly just a rough mix. More to come including a new work made in collaboration with Whatcom Middle School Students. Listen for it!

Let’s Party!

A special playlist today, starting at 10AM we replayed Ambient Mondaze. You can find the tracks in post 4.3.23.

Please enjoy. Thanks for listening! Sasha

Live Broadcast Canceled. Sorry folks!

What a week! Spring keeps sneaking up and darting off just when we get the nerve to go outside. Winter is losing her grip and pretty soon the hammocks will be out! To celebrate the new growth that spring is sure to bring, we’re doing something NEW!

Tonight, 5 – 7PM, we’ll be coming to you live from Fairhaven College! All you need to do is just LISTEN. Here are the stats:

Artists RYAN! Feddersen & T’uy’t’tanat-Cease Wyss
present and discuss their respective public,
participatory, and traditional practices that intervene in
settler-colonial spaces and memory within entangled
yet distinct territories, Nation-States, First Nations, and
communities of the Salish Sea.
Hosted by the Center for Canadian-American Studies,
Department of Art and Art History, and Fairhaven
College of Interdisciplinary Studies, on the traditional
and ancestral territories of the Nooksack Tribe and
Lummi Nation.

Tuesdaze 4.11.23

Tuesday is for gratitude. When the week feels too long ahead, I need to check in with myself to let it all sink in. Though the skies are still grey, the earth is warming. Can you smell the soil? The blossoms? A double rainbow last night reminded those lucky to be outside that it pays to make yourself vulnerable to the natural elements. There we can be closer to our truer selves. Maybe.

Some new old tracks from Western students, Emma Toscani and Taylor Hall from way back in winter 22, Art 280, along with favorites by Aiko Enomoto and Gabe R., and more! Plus something great from the profound Hildegard Westerkamp, and some newer tunes from Madeline Cocolas. Just ethereal, dark and throbbing. Like spring in the PNW. How lucky we are to have this privilege to gather and listen. In gratitude, Sasha P.
