Happy little Saturday, or lillordag everyone!

To celebrate I’ve put together a forest inspired playlist today starting with a reading of Robin Wall Kimmerer’s poignant essay, Returning the Gift, read by me for my students. I get a bit choked up, as I often due, when touched by great art. After that we have a bunch of foresty soundscapes and sound poems by students, another wonderful work by Hildegard Westerkamp, some moody tunes from recent me, based on sonified data from tree rings, plus one by Gil de la Tourette, about a forest-less continent,  Antarctica, and I wrap it up with some tracks from my Lessons from the Forest series.

Hello and welcome to our first edition of Ambient Mondaze.

Why not? It’s hard getting out of bed after a luscious weekend isn’t it. So why not linger in the afterglow. It’ll be Wednesday before you know it! Today we start with 2 hour long tracks, one from the awesome Frameworks Radio! Do check them out. Each week they release a new episode featuring fantastic soundscapes, melodic field recordings and odd pings and zips for the ears to eat up as you wander through your daze. With new programming on the horizon and a growing media library, Assistant Professor of Sculpture and Expanded Media, Sasha K Petrenko is looking for a few good TAs to help run the station. Duties may include running your own show, recording guests, organizing media files, field recording, preparing playlists, website and soundscape design, community outreach,  research and development. No experience necessary.
