STEAM MINOR RQMTS

STARTING FALL 2022 Art Majors may apply for the Steam Minor!

The STEAM minor adds the Arts to the traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) framework in order to facilitate an understanding of the interrelationship between STEM fields and Art. Integrating visual experience with scientific processes can:  provide students with the means to explore visual expression through technology, demonstrate the relationship between STEM concepts and the Arts and exemplify how the arts can enhance scientific understanding through processes such as visualization and creative problem solving.

Courses selected for the minor reflect a synthesis of art and science, technology, engineering or math in meaningful and intentional ways which enhance understanding across disciplines and expand pathways of thinking, performing and communicating. STEAM minor courses are multidisciplinary in nature. Merely using machines to manipulate material does not meet the standards. In the selected coursework students will gain skills working with more than one discipline in tandem as opposed to using one to support another. This list in not exhaustive. Students may propose courses not on the list to the STEAM Minor for consideration. Proposals do not guarantee approval.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE OCTOBER 15th & JANUARY 31st. APPLICATION AND GUIDELINES HERE!
