The Street Lives and Solutions: An Oral History Project

Steven L VanderStaay, English/College of Humanities and Social Sciences

About The Project

The Vision

Eyeball-Icon

I believe formerly unhoused people are the true experts, city planners, and service providers should be listening to when designing programs to assist homeless people.

The Method

Speech-bubble Icon

I am recording oral histories to document how people lost their shelter, the conditions of daily life they experienced, and the programs, pathways and personal efforts through which they regained housing and stability.

The Impact

Lightbulb Icon

In this way, others can learn about homelessness, as well as how to prevent and respond to it, from those who have experienced it.
