Our research topic consists of studying the effects of different methods student’s practice to relieve stress as a result of their academic life. We decided to study students of all backgrounds and majors to see if specific methods student’s are currently using are truly effective in relieving their stress, and what those methods are. We chose this topic because high stress is a universal problem, especially among school students, as it is typically an unavoidable problem. In addition to increased stress from school, this stress is also likely to affect student’s lives outside of school, which contributes to this rising problem and is making the issue of stress increasingly relevant in today’s world. We wanted to test student’s current ways of dealing with stress and the effectiveness of those techniques. We found that different students adopt and practice a variety of different methods to relieve stress, so there are various correlations that are found between students of different majors, living situations and even mental illness. These correlations are significant in finding root problems and answers as to why students experience stress and from what factors.
