In this project, we will be conducting a research study on academic habits involving taking breaks when studying among students here at Western Washington University. This is a relevant question because it regards academic success in proportion to study habits, with the assumption that these habits can be changed for the better. We want to know if the breaks are benefiting them by giving their brain a rest, or if it has a negative effect because it doesn’t allow for constant studying and focus. We also will be looking at if the nature of the of breaks they take makes a difference in the effect of their studying. This question is important because it would determine if students here at Western need to adjust their studying habits. We will be conducting a survey with several different sections, each with a different focus, to try and paint a complete picture of this question. After research is conducted, we will look for possible solutions or recommendations for study habits here at Western. Extra data collected within the survey will help provide insight to these habits.
