For our research question, we used the question “How does music that includes substance use affect the listeners in possibly using substances, and specifically students?” We used this question because as many teens and young adults listen to music that includes substance use, we wanted to figure out how many of those people that listened to the music participated in the act of using substances. This was the background thoughts for our project because this is a large epidemic that has been spreading across the US. No matter where you go, it seems like you can always find a young adult or teen smoking, vaping, or drinking. So, because of these happenings, we wondered what got so many young Americans interested in substances. Both my partners and I enjoy music, and so we figured that maybe music that had substance use in it would influence students to partake in the act of using substances. So, with this knowledge, we derived this question and therefore performed our research.
