Fall is upon us and Western’s campus is buzzing with Viking eBikes! Our fleet of five bikes are almost all in long-term use by Western community members. Faculty, staff, and students are getting hands-on experiences with our life-changing e-bikes.
Huxley College of the Environment will host a Viking eBike for Fall Quarter. If you are Huxley student staff, staff or faculty, you can use a Viking eBike for university business trips during Fall quarter.
If you want to ride an e-bike, the Viking eBike team is offering short-term loans! These loans can last from a couple of hours to a week and can be used for non-university business. Short-term loans are a great way to test out how an e-bike rides and to experience the incredible power it can add to your commute.
To check out a bike for a short-term loan, you must first attend a short orientation. During fall quarter, orientations are happening every Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the PAC plaza. The last orientation is on 11/28.
An orientation session takes about 45-minutes, and participants learn the ins and outs of the e-bikes, how to safely ride the e-bike, and defensive bicycling tactics. Participants can make mistakes, ask questions, and learn in a safe and comfortable environment. In addition to learning how to ride an eBike, this orientation will help you brush up on your non-motorized bicycle riding skills. If you have not ridden a bike in a while or do not have experience riding bikes on a busy street, this orientation is for you!
If you are interested in attending an orientation, please contact Josh Kirsch at email@example.com to confirm that you will be there. Orientations may be cancelled in the event that no one registers, so please be sure to confirm your attendance by Tuesday afternoon.
If you cannot make it to a scheduled orientation, but would like to complete the e-bike training, email Josh at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an individual orientation.
