Our collage represents development and growth in literacy over time through our personal experiences and events. In our collage there is a definite contrast between the books and the peoples silhouettes as well as in the mountains and the silhouettes. This contrast between the silhouettes and the things in color is used to represent that the mountain and the books have had a large impact on us, and our literacy today. The mountains tie our two stories together because we both used our learned literary skills, whether that be from a class assignment or a sport, to gain knowledge, and use it in the outdoor setting and environment. Our learned literacy skills have proven to us that we can keep growing and expanding, and the mountains are a great representation of this idea. There is repetition in our collage with the multiple stacks of books and the multiple silhouettes. The silhouettes represent one getting older, and along the way gaining more knowledge. The gained knowledge is demonstrated by the larger stacks of books next to the older silhouettes. Through different events, or specific moments in our life, we have each learned a new perspective and style of thinking, which has affected our literacy today. This important idea is shown through the use of repetition, along with other elements. Alignment is also demonstrated in our collage through the centered background of the mountains. There is also alignment through the placement of the silhouettes as they start on the right and end on the left, gradually getting larger, but maintaining equal spaces from the sides. Alignment in our collage helps the piece to look visually appealing. Overall our collage is meant to demonstrate the growth we went through, and to show how our specific events directly impacted us. In this collage, growth is shown through the aging silhouettes with a growing pile of knowledge around them. The impact piece is shown through the mountains and the outdoors, which is the entire background of the collage.
