My new medium,
I picked this new medium because it reflexes me when I was a child. I use to love the game chutes and ladders. The ladders represented something like taking the easy road, or in the game you could land on a color and be brought back down farther away from where you wanted to go, representing the ” short cut”. The different colors represent the studying that I had to do in the 2 hour car ride. How much I would try to do. For me the ladders represent that short cut, or the right way. As a student I took the long way until my father had that talk with me and set me on the right way to go.
Throughout school I would take the easy way, doing as little work as possible. But I thought that I was going the work so it would be fine. My father really set me on the right path in order for me to succeed and be where I am today. It was hard for me to grasp anything that I thought was uninteresting. I wasn’t into looking at new things and I hated to read. The colors that are on the board are for the work that I did throughout the 2 hour trip in my car. Every color represents something good that I did, like reading, writing, or any other homework that I would have to do for my AP literature class. It took baby steps into becoming a good student academically, but I have pushed myself to new limits and have begun a new journey to figure out what kind of a writer and reader I really am now that I am in college.
I think that the new medium that I picked really portrayed what I was trying to show others. That I could have taken the ladder in the right, or wrong direction. I think it also showed how being that good student takes work. It doesn’t just happen over night for someone. I am so very blessed to have an amazing family, and father, to help steer me into the right direction. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
