Extension Project C

As you probably know Valentine’s Day is coming up in just a couple of days! In the spirit of the holiday I went on a hunt to find five Valentine’s Day events happening around campus. So if you are looking for a way to celebrate  here are a couple of options! I have attached pictures of the fliers which hold all the information you need! While the origin of Valentine’s Day is often thought of as gruesome these posters are meant to liven the mood and give all people, couples or friends, some options to show some love. Love is usually represented with a heart which can be found on each of the posters. It is also represented with a particular color scheme of red, white, and pink also found on each of these posters.

The first flier is about loving our planet. All the words are centered in the poster leading the reader straight down the flier to get all the information. They center a quote in the middle to add some emotion to the poster outside of the idea of love. The words at the top and bottom are spaced neatly apart with the center piece having the most space.

The second flier uses the repetition of hearts to catch the viewers attention along with the contrast between the background and the hearts. The flier also repeats the same color scheme throughout the flier, red and white. The words and the hearts are the same color. The top half of the poster is split left and right, but the bottom in centered on the page. This event is targeted towards everyone giving them a free place to eat candy and hang out.

The third flier is opposite of the second flier in that the bottom half is split between right and left. The top is a right alignment. They again use the repetition of hearts all over the page to convey show the theme of the event but they targeted it at everyone by including all different types of groups. They use the contrast between pink, yellow, and black to make specific words and ideas stand out.

The fourth poster is supporting the WWU figure skating team. They centered the most important piece of information at the top of the page in the middle then changed to a right alignment as the reader follows the information. They also have hearts on the page, but they were drawn in the ice by the skates helping show what their event is all about. Also, as you go down the page the font gets small and almost seems to trail off. The main information is on the top half of the page.

The fifth and final poster has significantly less words than all of the other posters. They have centered an image on the poster and used that image to grab the reader’s attention. From the picture instinctively the reader looks to the top of the page and them reads all the information to the bottom. They switch alignments each line and the top and just have a tiny square of information at the bottom. They repeat the word color and the color of the hearts on the image’s eyes. This poster targets everyone who wants to come and enjoy a good show!

In all there are some fun activities if you need something to do for Valentine’s Day. All are inexpensive or free! They support your world, your community, or even yourself.
