SCREEN Time

While online learning involves the typical screen time to access your course material, we recommend managing your SCREEN time to be sure you find balance and success as an online student.

Schedule your time in a weekly fashion. Consider reading on certain days of the week, posting to discussion forums on others, and working on other projects or assignments little by little between course due dates.

Communicate early and often. Give yourself time to reach out to instructors for clarification, assistance, or informing others about your circumstances will help you succeed (same goes for working in groups).

Relate course content, activities, or chosen projects to your interests, future goals, career path, or even your current employment. This will help you to make meaning from your classes, solidify course concepts, and stay motivated.

Engage in group assignments, discussion forums, or other areas that might allow you to further develop friendships or expand your network to help you create a unit of support to succeed online.

Evaluate your performance and understanding of course concepts as well as how well you are meeting due dates, course goals or program expectations. Consistent re-evaluation of these and other strategies will increase your success and achievement.

Navigate materials, due dates, and assignments and investigate university resources that assist you before you require them. Find out what offices or campus groups are available to help!
