By an almost unanimous vote of 95-2, House Bill 1755, passed off the floor of the House of Representatives earlier today. Representative Leavitt (28th District) and Representative Van Werven (42nd District), some of the bill’s main sponsors and supporters, spoke compelling words in favor of the bipartisan bill during the floor debate about how much this opportunity would benefit the workforce development opportunities in rural areas of the state. The bill would authorize the boards of trustees at WWU, CWU and EWU to approve applied doctorate degrees in education (Ed.Ds) at each school.
