WWU Palliative Care Institute Director Marie Eaton and Deputy Director Sara Weir presented in Olympia this afternoon during a meeting of the Joint Legislative Executive Committee on Aging and Disability. The presentation informed committee members, which includes legislators and other state-level decision-makers, about specialized health care for patients with serious illnesses, including ways to improve quality of life for patients and their families. Housed at Western, the Palliative Care Institute is a partnership between the University and local health organizations designed to create a palliative community, improve palliative care for people experiencing serious illness, and support the human responses to living and dying. You can find more information about Western’s Palliative Care Institute here, and you can find slides from today’s presentation here.
