WWU QueerCon

Save the Date! QueerCon is Saturday, April 27, 2024!

WWU QueerCon is an annual student-organized LGBTQIA2S+ art, comics, society, and media fan convention and conference held at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA on the last Saturday of April. This will be our 8th year running!

Vendor registration is CLOSED for QueerCon 2024!

However, you can still get on our waitlist for running a table, giving a talk, hosting a panel, and more! We welcome everyone from WWU Students to independent creators to businesses. Check out the pages below to learn more about getting involved. We will accept registrations for the waitlist until April 05. Any form submitted after that date will not be accepted.

In 2023, QueerCon was an in-person event with hybrid in-person and remote panelists, talks, performances, games, film, and drag show components. The event was held from 12 PM to 8 PM on April 29th, 2023 in the Academic West building. Tabling for vendors, artists, creators, and non-profits included over 80 in-person vendor and organization tables, photobooth, vegan street food, and dozens of in-person and virtual special events, presentations and workshops during the all-ages general convention hours from 12 – 5 pm. From 5 – 8pm, in-person QueerCon 18+ After-Hours events included a planetarium show and drag show.

Want to get involved? Check these out! We would love to have you at our convention!

About QueerCon

Who are we?

QueerCon is organized by a group of dedicated queer people who want to create a space to celebrate queer and LGBT+ identity, creativity, and community. The goal for WWU QueerCon is to provide an opportunity to highlight queer stories and creators in an inclusive and friendly space and strengthen the queer and LGBT+ community at WWU and the greater Bellingham area. The people behind this event strive to ensure that it is family-friendly and accessible to anyone who may want to join the fun.

WWU QueerCon features professional and student creators and exhibitors, offering all sorts of queer and geek-related items, as well as panels focusing on queer stories, experiences, and other LGBTQ+ topics.  Learn about our history here.

How can I help make WWU Queer Con successful this year and beyond?

Join the Team!

Are you interested in helping support an annual event centered on celebrating intersectional LGBTIA2S+ community and representation? We are currently looking for students at Western Washington University to join our QueerCon team for this year, and to help us keep this event going in the next year! This is a great involvement opportunity for students to foster leadership and event-organizing skills while helping to make a great event that supports the local community, students, and independent artists. We also need staff volunteers to help us day-of (and you get free admission!). Check out our Help Wanted (link) page, or better yet, email us at wwuqueercon@gmail.com to learn more and to join our Discord (link).

Donate to our Event or become an Event Sponsor

We want to ensure that there are no barriers for student and independent artists and nonprofits to present their work at our event. Even small donations help offset our set-up costs! Larger donations help us bring in guest speakers and artists and cover screening fees and honoraria. Your donations help us directly in supporting our queer creators and help make the event even more awesome.

Be an Exhibitor!

Show off what you’re proud of! Share your amazing artwork, crafts, and other merchandise or share information about your club, organization, or business. Sign up early to reserve a spot at the convention.

Have ideas? Questions? If you are interested in joining the team, helping out, or being an exhibitor or vendor at the convention, please contact us at wwuqueercon@gmail.com for more details. You can also join our Discord server (link) which is open to anyone and a good place to learn about volunteering and becoming a part of the team! We look forward to having you!

You can find some of our recorded panel videos from past years on our YouTube channel.

Special thanks to our amazing 2024 event sponsors
