iOS & WordPress: Health Ed. and Promotions

For the last quarter, I have been working Professor Brittanie Lockard and her Health Education and Promotions class, in bringing new technology life to a routine course.  This was a large 50 seat class, where they would have the opportunity to create education materials targeting K-12 and college students. Professor Lockard wanted this class to make real materials, accessible on the web, and the ability for following classes to add content to.

To put a new twist on this, I integrated the STC’s iPads into each of the 10 groups. From there, the production process was taught and looked at how a full public service announcement (PSA) could be fully, or partially, crated using iOS. Out of it, 7 groups produced both a animated drawing board video and a PSA all on iPad. Three groups hybridized the project, doing 90% on iOS, and then using AirDrop to transfer their production files to an iMac to finish post production. This was due to a limitiaon that those groups needed to speed ramp clips, and we discovered that on the STC iPads, speeding up clips are not supported due to a hardware limitaiton.

I am very proud of this class, and what they were able to create! Further investigating the idea that an iOS device can be a one-stop production shop for students and educators. This concept was borrowed from Bentley Motor’s Intelligent Details series.
