My piece is inspired by Jackson Pollock’s drip painting techniques. I love the mixture of drips and bold lines of paint in his artwork, and I thought this specific part of my doorframe reflected that nicely. I titled the picture based on how I interpret the importance of my doorframe relative to my overall safety here in my apartment, but I love how the picture doesn’t make it obviously clear to the viewer that it’s a doorframe. Instead, it’s my (the artist) experience and the subject matter that creates a deeper understanding of the picture.
