The artist that I took inspiration from is Willem De Kooning, specifically his piece, Seated Woman. Like De Kooning, I worked from the figure (by using my cat as a live model), utilizing different viewpoints and perspectives to try and imitate his collage (and Cubist) technique. I used mustard and ketchup as my medium (mixed with modge podge), and this is where I incorporated some action painting, as although I started with a paintbrush, I eventually used my fingers to get dynamic, expressive strokes that eat away at the figure, invoking a sense of dislocation.
