The reason I chose this as my self portrait is because of a dream I had when I was young. A figure who looked very much like this came to me in a dream and told me that it was me. It sounds far-fetched, but this portrait is the best I could do in recreating what the figure in my dream looked like. In the dream, the figure felt familiar and safe. Growing into adulthood, I have realized that this figure could have represented another version of myself deeply engrained in my subconscious. One that is not tied to the physical body, but rather the soul. Therefore, on a deeply subconscious level since I’ve had that dream, I see this figure as an extension of myself.
