Order vs Chaos, Mathew Harr, Week 6 Studio Project

This hybridity self portrait was taken on my phone at the gym using my close friend Andy’s glasses. While I don’t need glasses(yet), my whole family does, and while it may not be causal, my whole family is full of very smart and rule following people. In the selfie I wear the glasses upside down in a goofy manor to show that I’m not taking them that seriously and while they may be a part of the identity of people close to me, they aren’t a direct part of mine, and to show how I formed my own identity outside of my family, involving things like going to the gym that no one in my family really does (aside from my brother rock climbing). The piece shows the hybridity of my personal identity and how it overlaps with the identity of the people closest to me in life.
