I made these pieces regarding the pollution of the Hawaiian coastline. I used pieces of glass that I collected myself to create new treasures that now have a new life. I assembled these pieces using sterling silver, wire wrapping, and soldering. I also molded and bent some plastic that can be used as beads for additional jewelry and trash from around the house for display.

Trash to Treasure is a concept that highlights the transformation of waste materials into valuable, usable items. One inspiring example is tagua nut jewelry where the seeds from the tagua palm are harvested and carved into beautiful, intricate designs. These seeds, often discarded as waste, are durable, eco-friendly, and a sustainable alternative to ivory. By repurposing what was once considered trash, artisans can create stunning necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, giving new life to natural resources. This practice not only reduces environmental impact but also supports local economies, proving that with creativity, trash can truly become treasure.
