Between 2020 and 2021 there were a total of 93 school shootings with casualties reported by the National Center for Education. I, like all of you, am a student who walks on campus five days a week. I worry for mine and my fellow classmates safety. I wanted to make this drawing to capture the seriousness of this issue in hopes to encourage others to speak out about this topic and to hopefully entice change for the better. You can’t always tell what a person is thinking or feeling, but if we communicate and check in with one another, than perhaps we can help establish a safer environment for us and for future generations to come. Our school should be a place of learning instead of violence.
