This picture is supposed to represent the obstacles that Ding Liren, the new world chess champion, had to face when rising to the top. I think his journey was very impressing and inspiring, and I wanted to memorialize that in this project. He had deal with covid restrictions in china and fierce opponents with the upper hand multiple times. Ding had to overcome many challenges, and I think this photo represents that, with Ding being the boat, and the chess pieces, masks, and rocks all supposed to represent said obstacles.
