My piece was inspired by an article by The Washington Post, highlighting several school theater programs experiencing censorship and cancellation of their productions this year due to anti-LGBTQ+ bills and views. This year has already been the worst year for state legislative bills preventing people in our education system from presenting any queer representation. It has now reached the stage, of preventing kids from expressing themselves through their art form. I did my piece on a canvas, used acrylic paint, and created a collage with scraps around my house. I also chose to use text from the article itself, which was definitely inspired by the Dada poems we learned about.
