The recent rise of artificial intelligence worries me. While I try to remain optimistic, I fear for what the future holds in the artistic world when artists are so undervalued and seemingly so replaceable. The Writers Guild of America, a labor union representing writers in film and television, is currently on strike and one of their demands has to do with regulating the use of AI in writing. In my piece, the left is messy and chaotic and includes color to represent creativity and humanity in art. The right is straight and devoid of any color to represent the lack of personality that comes with artificial intelligence. The figure in the middle is blank and nondescript because the writers that create the content we consume often go unnoticed.
