The news event that influenced my project is the growing recognition of the ecological consequences caused by fast fashion. Industry practices, such as overproduction, excessive resource consumption, and large amounts of textile waste contribute significantly to pollution, deforestation, and greenhouse gas emissions. It is essential to shed light on this issue and inspire change through art. I made this piece by incorporating fabric scraps, discarded clothing, and magazine advertisements commonly associated with fashion. By repurposing these materials, I aim to convey the message of recycling and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of mindful consumption.
