This piece is based off of the immoral dumping of thousands of tons of toxic fire debris into a canal that runs straight into the mother reef of the Hawaiian islands. I wanted to exemplify the life that dwells between beds of coral that support both sea creatures and the people of the islands. The Olowalu reef off the West coast of Maui is one of the largest and most important reef beds of the Hawaiian islands, and if the debris were to bleed into her, I fear we would not be able to fix any damage done.
Not sure as to why the quality of the piece dropped so severely… I’ve attempted to fix it multiple times but to no avail :-( Apologies!
