The current event I chose to pursue is the invasive animal species that infiltrate our homes without us knowing or really caring until it directly affects us. I based this animation off of one of me and my dog’s routine adventures, which was abruptly put on hold when our favorite place was marked off with warnings for the invasive Spotted Lantern Fly. Though I’d heard of them before, I had never had a place that’s usually so familiar to me blocked off or otherwise altered because of an invasive species, so I thought it would be interesting to play with my memory of the moment in an artistic medium.
