Skin-whitening ads have harmful stereotypes and reinforce systemic racism. The art piece is a visual commentary on the impact of skin-whitening ads on individuals’ self-esteem, cultural identity, and societal perceptions of beauty. I drew a television with phrases regarding skin-whitening ads on it, while there is a person simultaneously trying to “change the system” to alter these types of stereotypes.
