This piece is intended to draw attention to the toxic materials that reside in Bellingham Bay, it is an intentionally temporary piece and once formation degrades, all that will remain are the images of it. The City of Bellingham has been saying that they will clean up our bays since 2016, and did manage to make real action happen for the following two years, ever since then all that they have done is draft legislation and documents that have had no real affect on the toxicity of our bays. The choice to use sea shells came from wanting to show what is most affected by the toxicity; our marine life.
